Australia Photography stars milky way and astrophotography Road trip. 3 Months travelling around Australia in a small camper van. Starting in Sydney, up the gold coast to Whitsundays, across the outback through Rainbow Valley onto Alice Springs, Milky way at Uluru-Kata Tjuta, Ayres Rock, then down to Coober Pedy, Adelaide, Great Ocean road, 12 apostles, Melbourne, Canberra back to Sydney Bridge and Luna park. Leura Cascades is a popular picnic area set amidst tall eucalypts. Nearby you can take a walk beside the rapids on Leura Falls Creek down to Bridal Veil Falls and Leura Falls.
Natural attractions include Sublime Point to the south, which offers panoramic views of the Jamison Valley, and Leura Cascades in the southwest. There is a network of tracks that goes from Links Road to Echo Point, taking in many attractions along the way, including the Pool of Siloam, Leura Cascades, Leura Falls, Jamison Lookout, Linda Falls and the Dardanelles Pass, before ascending to Echo Point via the Giant Stairway. The area is popular for bushwalking and photography.
On my last days in Australia I went to the Three Sisters lookout only a short twenty minute walk from where I was staying in Katoomba to photograph a sunrise over the three sisters.
Had a really cool low cloud/fog come into the valley and the sunrise was further to the left but was strong enough to bring a nice bright yellow glow into the valley. Made for a lovely sunrise, well worth getting up for.
I was out in Japan and the weather was pretty bad so I decided to hop on a plane and check out Australia. I hired a crappy camper van and spent a few months driving around Australia. We covered a crazy amount of miles, weather was great, people good and sights were fabulous. We started in Sydney and finished in Sydney, here I photographed under the Sydney bridge in my last couple of days in a very cool country.
