Sunrise over Galveston Pier — in Galveston, TX. Have to say I don’t like getting up early for sunrise shots, but was my last morning in Texas and decided it was now or never. So set my alarm for 4.30am and took the 40 minute drive from League city into Galveston.

Just a few minutes ago I won an auction on eBay for a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens, so really looking foward to getting that and taking some wide angle landscapes. Up until now I’ve just been using the 18mm on my Nikon 18-55mm kit lens and it’s been good but 10mm is going to be something else!.
Here we have the view looking over Hastings when you walk all the way out of town and up the hill that I think leads to the old ruins. I never got any further then here as was pretty much out of puff after walking all around town and then up this hill.

There are many unusual and eclectic things to find in Hastings from the locals to the shops and streets and a very friendly atmosphere. I ended up chatting to a lady on the beach for the best part on an hour but had go and take some photos!
Here’s a great looking shop I found wandering around Hastings town ‘Up the garden path’, I think they sell bits and bobs for your garden.

This was shot as three exposures with a couple of ND filters I think ND8 and ND4 at F22 and then processed with Nik color Efex.

On Friday I went down to Hastings famous for the ‘Battle of Hastings’. But the weather was so poor I never took a single picture, very disheartening as it’s a 5 hour round car trip.
But on Sunday was such a nice day I decided to make the trip again. This time I got some great shots. I specifically went to get photos of the pier which is now dilapidated and just an empty shell. I took alot of slight variations on the same scene, so will be many months before I get around to processing them all.
