Pyestock – National Gas Turbine Establishment

For over 50 years Pyestock was at the forefront of gas turbine development. It was probably the largest site of its kind in the world. V bomber, Harrier and Tornado engines were tested on site. The power of the air house allowed Concorde’s engines to be tested at 2,000 mph. Every gas turbine installed in Royal Navy ships was checked here; captured Soviet engines were discreetly examined.

Pyestock was used for several scenes in the 2005 film Sahara by Breck Eisner, based on the best-selling book of the same name by Clive Cussler. Internal sections of Cell 3 and Cell 4 were suitably reworked for the film’s supposedly solar powered waste disposal facility.

Black Lexus SC430 on industrial estate

I took my Lexus SC430 out last night to do some night shots and light painting. After I did my light painting I drove around for a while stopping off here and there to take some shots of the car at various locations. My last stop off was at the Hackbridge industrial estate where I took this shot.

Grey outside Battersea power station

As I walked past Battersea power station the other day I took a number of pictures of it. To be honest it’s about the most ugliest eyesore of a building you could imagine, but it fills up the whole landscape and is very imposing. I expect to hear on the news any day that it will be demolished so I will saviour it incase with some photos.

I took a number of just the building itself but the one I prefer was this one with it set in the background. I jazzed up the surrounding photo to keep that grey feeling you get from looking at this building.

Rooftop antenna masks over blue skies

Atleast thats what I think they are, but thats just my best guess. The building underneath is an old bingo hall that used to be a cinema that my dad went to as a child. If you know what they are post a comment.
